What’s the difference between a picture (image) and a slide?
A slide comprises:
- an image (ie, a photo or picture)
- an optional caption
- the colour of the text background
- whether the image is in ‘portrait’ orientation (ie, tall and narrow).
Pix is a picture gallery or slideshow for your watch! Have up to 50* images of your family, friends, pets, ID cards (etc) just a twist of the wrist away.
Your images can fade from one to the next automatically, and the text on them can slide away so nothing messes with your photos.
You can give each picture a caption, and you can customise the text background colour to suit the picture.
Pix has numerous options and settings. For example, you can choose how quickly the images change, how long the text is displayed for, which activities are shown, etc. Pix can even display kilojoules (kJ) and percentages!
On supported watches, Pix has an Always-On Display mode.
* Capacity depends on available storage space. Versa 3 and Sense should allow up to 100 images.
Cost: $1 USD + tax.
When Pix is first installed, its slideshow consists of one empty slide. Touch Image in Pix's Settings within the Fitbit app on your phone to set a picture for this slide. You can also set a Caption, change the text background colour, etc.
To add more slides (pictures), pause Pix by touching the centre of the watch screen. Then, touch Add New Slide in Pix's Settings. After the new 'Empty Slide' has appeared on your watch, you can set a picture (etc) for it like you did for the first slide.
When you've finished adding slides, unpause Pix by touching the centre of the watch screen.
To show the date temporarily, touch the top left corner of the watch screen.
To manually change the slide to the next or previous one, touch the right or left side of the watch screen.
Only one activity value is displayed at a time. The displayed activity type will change on successive slides. To quickly see other activity types, manually change slides by touching the sides of the watch screen. You can select which activity types will be displayed by using Pix’s Settings on your phone.
To show activity achiements as percentages of your daily goals (or maximum heart rate), touch the top right corner of the watch screen.
To pause the slideshow so you can make changes to it, touch the centre of the watch screen. A flashing pause icon should appear. Touch it to resume the slideshow after you’ve finished making your changes.
Touch the bottom of the watch screen to access these options:
To set up Pix with your pictures, and to access other customisation features, use Pix’s Settings. You can find these in the Fitbit app on your phone or tablet (look in Account, [type of watch], Clock Faces, [type of watch tab near top], Pix icon, Settings).
When Pix is first installed, its slideshow consists of one empty slide that you can customise (see 'Editing Slides', below). To add additional empty slides, touch Add New Slide. Every time you do this, you'll get a new empty slide that you can customise.
New slides will be added after the slide that’s currently displayed on the watch. Therefore, it’s best to pause the slideshow on the slide before the new one you want to add. To pause, touch the centre of the watch screen. While paused, you can move to the next/previous slide by touching the sides of the watch screen.
Changes will be made to the slide that’s currently displayed on the watch. To avoid accidents, pause the slideshow at the slide you want to change. To pause, touch the centre of the watch screen. While paused, you can move to the next/previous slide by touching the sides of the watch screen. This can be useful when making changes to multiple slides, or to check the order in which the slides will be shown.
When you pause the slideshow, and when you change slides while the slideshow is paused, information about the current slide is sent from the watch to the settings page to make it easier to edit that information. It may take a second or two to appear. Because of technical limitations, the slide’s image is not sent from watch to settings.
In portrait mode, the text overlays are displayed on the sides of the images, instead of across the top and bottom. Portrait mode is useful for tall narrow images.
Long captions will automatically scroll across the watch’s screen. Due to a watch limitation, this doesn't happen in portrait mode slides.
After making a change (especially a colour change), it can take a few seconds for the watch to catch up. To ensure your changes are applied to the correct slide, wait until the Bluetooth icon (top right of watch screen) stops flashing.
Slide display time. When auto-advance is enabled on the watch, this setting specifies the time for which each slide is displayed.
Overlay display time. This setting can be used to automatically hide the text on each slide after a while. Whenever a new slide is displayed, the text will be displayed for the selected period before sliding off the screen. To prevent the text from disappearing, select Always. To prevent the text from appearing at all, use the options on the watch (touch the bottom of the screen).
Fade edges. Creates a subtle vignette effect by gradually fading the edges of the image to black.
Date format. Select between month-first and date-first. To display the date, touch the top left corner of the watch screen.
Activities. Select which activities should be displayed. Options are energy (Cal or kJ), steps, distance, active zone minutes and heart rate. At least one activity must be selected. Only one activity value is displayed at a time. The displayed activity will change on successive slides. To express activity achievements as percentages of your daily goals (or maximum heart rate), touch the top right corner of the watch screen.
Energy units. Select Calories (Cal) or kilojoules (kJ).

Touching 'Add new slide' should add a new slide, but sometimes it doesn't. Here's some things to check:
Pix works fine for most people but, in rare cases, 'Add new slide' doesn't do anything even after the above suggestions have been tried. We haven't been able to duplicate this problem, or identify a cause or solution. If this happens to you, please accept our apology and request a refund here.
After you touch Add New Slide, you'll get a new 'Empty Slide' on your watch. Touch Image in Settings to pick a picture for this slide.
Pause Pix at the empty slide, then select Delete in Pix’s Settings on your phone.
Look for error messages that appear below the setting you're trying to change. You may need to swipe the Settings page up or down to see them. Such messages will tell you what went wrong and how to fix it.
Very often, the problem will be that Pix wasn't paused. When the slideshow is playing normally, the slides keep changing. In this situation, the watch can't be sure about which slide to change, so it doesn't do anything (and an error message should be shown in Settings). Pause Pix by touching the centre of the watch screen, then try again.
Changes are applied to the slide that's currently displayed on the watch. To avoid mistakes, before making changes, pause the slideshow at the slide to be changed. You can pause by touching the centre of the watch screen. While paused, you can move to the next/previous slide by touching the sides of the watch screen.
After making a change (especially a colour change), it can take a few seconds for the watch to catch up. To ensure your changes are applied to the correct slide, wait until the Bluetooth icon (top right of watch screen) stops flashing. When everything has settled down, you can then edit other sides or resume the slideshow.
